Episode 44 - Hello darkness my old friend, is definitely what the American Idol people must be thinking....and of course we're cheering on the demise because we're cruel like that. Also, remember that the John Lennon Songwriting competition will be ending next month, so let's all get our songs together and submit them as a group.  Submit them here.

In the songwriting section we discuss lyrics and the importance of the title of a song.  In an article from BMI by Jason Blume we discuss how to come up with a good title and a good lyrical hook. While Eric was hesitant to discuss this article it turns out to have a lot of good information for us songwriters.

We then critique "Bright" by Echosmith and Eric decides that using the word "Neptune" is entirely overdone and obnoxious, but overall the lyrics are actually pretty good.

For the production segment Art takes us intimately into his studio and breaks down a new song he's working on, but only using two mic's to record drums.  Listen as he starts from the beginning and brings the song to life.

Crib Notes:
